Overview

The Weight App is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or share your personal data with any third parties. Your weight data stays on your device and under your complete control.

1. What Data Do We Collect?

User-Provided Data

  • Weight entries: The numeric weight value you log, along with the unit you choose (kg, lbs, or stones)
  • Timestamps: The date and time you recorded each weight entry
  • User preferences: Your choice of weight unit, time range filter (7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or all), and language preference

Automatically Detected Data

  • Device locale: Used only to suggest the appropriate default weight unit for your region (metric for most countries, imperial for US, Liberia, and Myanmar)

2. How Is Your Data Stored?

All your data is stored exclusively on your device using local encrypted storage (MMKV). We do not use cloud storage, servers, or any remote backend.

Storage Details

  • Location: Your device's local secure storage
  • Encryption: Protected by your device's native encryption (iOS Keychain-equivalent security, Android's native encryption)
  • Persistence: Your data persists on your device even after closing the app
  • Accessibility: Only accessible to the Weight App on your device

3. Third-Party Services

The Weight App does not integrate with any third-party services. We do not:

  • Use analytics platforms (Firebase, Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Integrate health services (Apple Health, Google Fit, Strava, etc.)
  • Use tracking pixels or advertising networks
  • Share data with any external services

External Links

The app contains links to external websites (developer's website, social media profiles, donation page) that open in your browser. These links do not transmit app data. Visiting these external sites is subject to their own privacy policies.

4. App Permissions

The Weight App requests minimal permissions:

iOS & Android

  • Device locale detection: Used to suggest appropriate weight units

5. Data Sharing & Exporting

The Weight App does not have built-in data export or sharing features. Your data:

  • Is not shared with anyone by default
  • Cannot be automatically backed up to cloud storage
  • Cannot be exported to external services

Manual Data Access

You can access your data only through:

  1. Direct viewing in the app
  2. Manual deletion via the app's delete function
  3. Device backup/restore (if you backup your entire device)

6. Data Deletion

You have full control over your data:

Delete All Data

  • Access the debug menu (tap the app version label 5 times in settings)
  • Select "Clear All Entries" to permanently delete all weight data
  • This action cannot be undone

Delete Everything

Uninstalling the app removes all stored data from your device

7. Data Retention

  • No automatic deletion: Your weight entries are kept indefinitely until you manually delete them
  • No expiration: Old entries remain accessible and are not automatically purged
  • Device-level protection: Your data survives app updates and OS updates, but is lost if the device is wiped or the app is uninstalled

8. Security

Your data is protected by:

  • Device-level encryption: Protected by your device's native security (iOS Keychain, Android native encryption)
  • No network transmission: Data never leaves your device, eliminating transmission vulnerabilities
  • No server vulnerabilities: With no backend server, there's no external breach risk
  • Physical access: Data is only accessible to apps on your device (or someone with physical access to an unlocked device)

What You Should Do

  • Keep your device updated with the latest iOS/Android security patches
  • Use a strong device unlock method (passcode, Face ID, fingerprint, etc.)
  • Don't share your device with people you don't trust

9. Children's Privacy

The Weight App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has used the app, we encourage the parent/guardian to delete the app and the data.

10. Your Rights

Since all your data is stored on your device:

  • You own your data: Complete ownership and control
  • No data requests: We cannot access or share your data even if asked
  • Right to deletion: Delete any or all data anytime via the app
  • Right to access: Your data is always accessible to you on your device
  • No data processing: We do not process, analyze, or use your data

11. Privacy Policy Changes

If we update this privacy policy, the "Last Updated" date will change. Material changes will be communicated through the app.

Since all data processing happens on your device, major privacy practices (local-only storage, no third-party sharing, no analytics) will not change.
